Here at One Click, we take immense pride in our company culture: it guides us through our daily tasks, sets the tone for our expectations and aspirations, and shows in our enthusiasm for our work and each other. Our team members show a certain passion and positivity for this small-but-mighty ecommerce company that’s hard to ignore. It’s this distinctive culture that landed us on the year’s coveted list of Best Places to Work in Indiana for the very first time. On Thursday, May 3, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce announced One Click Ventures as 26th in the small and medium-sized company category. The small and medium-sized category consisted of those companies with between 15 and 249 U.S. employees, while the large-sized category consisted of companies that have 250 or more employees nationally. Out-of-state companies were taken into consideration as long as at least 15 full-time employees were in
At the May all-company meeting, a couple hardworking One Clickers were recognized for the Above and Beyond award and the Core Value Highlight. These awards recognize One Clickers who stood out during the previous month as embodying One Click's culture and work ethic. April Above and Beyond Winner April's Above and Beyond winner is Haley. Haley is the Director of Organic Search. Maggie V. nominated Haley. Here is what her nomination said: I'd like to nominate Haley for the Above and Beyond Award this month. Lately, our team has been tackling a huge project. Haley has gracefully lead our team through it. She quickly divided us into groups and gave us clear directions to research and contact anyone who might be helpful. Along the way, Haley kept us informed through emails and daily
Each month, the entire One Click team gathers for an all-company meeting to announce important information and cover the previous month's highlights. The team also takes this opportunity to brag on each other and recognize hard-working and high-achieving One Clickers. The "Above and Beyond" award is a colleague-nominated award that recognizes someone who goes the extra mile, while the Core Value Highlight honors someone who embodies one of OCV's Core Values. April Above and Beyond Winner This month's Above and Beyond award winner is Stacie. Stacie is an SEO Specialist who also has a creative talent for photography. Sarah T nominated Stacie with this kind e-mail: I think everyone knows that Stacie has become OCV's unofficial second photographer for organic projects, new site designs, and even email content. I know she is approached
One Million Views Ice Cream Celebration
Part of the organic team's job is to create awesome content that encourages our visitors to share, revisit, and interact with our sites. Sometimes it's an infographic on hat history, sometimes it's a blog post with 10 tips on getting up and out the door in 10 minutes, but whatever the medium, we're always looking for new ways to connect with our audience. If you've seen any of our how to tie a scarf content, you also know that we've been dabbling in video for awhile now. Last week we hit a pretty big milestone in our video career...drumroll, please! This is my attempt at drawing confetti. ONE MILLION YOUTUBE VIEWS!! (Okay, yes, that picture
He had the biggest smile in the world.You would never guess that minutes earlier his throws skipped five feet short of his throwing partner. This player's skill and mood improved after I applied my analytical background to a different medium. The 13-year-old wasn’t reaching back far enough before the throw, also known as “short-arming it.” This robbed him of the extra ‘umph’ the ball needed to reach his target. A little tinkering with that, and the baseball found the mitt throw after throw. “How’s that feel?” I asked. “Better.” He could hardly fit the words through a grin he tried to hide. And that’s why I volunteer to coach. It’s motivating, it’s rewarding, and boy, it’s challenging. I mean, I coached an 11-year-old who raised his hand with excitement and enthusiasm to sit the
Last Friday, the OCV office went green for our first-ever St. Patrick’s Day pitch-in. Filled with pre-potluck excitement (or perhaps they were just afraid of being pinched!), the team arrived in their finest green garb. At noon, the team took a break from the busy day to gather in the upstairs loft for good company and great food. Many One Clickers accepted the St. Patty’s challenge and got creative with their contributions. Guacamole, salad, and mint brownies brought a little green to the spread. Angie’s Irish-flag-inspired veggie tray had us singing Amhrán na bhFiann. Steve, Maggie T., and Julie stayed true to the Irish holiday, bringing corn beef and cabbage, potato soup, and Reuben roll-ups to share. And as is customary at any One Click function, there was such an abundance of
I already knew that One Click is a talented, creative, and hardworking group. But I wanted to find out what the hidden talents are that make One Clickers so unique and dynamic -- so I took a poll, asking the team to share their not-so-obvious gifts. I found that we're a team of many talents! Here's what they said: Maggie Thistleton I like to hula hoop! Lacey Merkley I crochet baby blankets :) Stacey Grissom Donald Duck impression. My best hidden talent. :D Alessandra Souers Songwriting! Nate Schrader Coaching would be my most developed attribute...becoming a "student of the game" has led me to baseball leadership roles and little league coaching responsibilities. Krista Ward Bookbinding. I took one class in college and found I was pretty great at it and really enjoyed doing it. I hand bind journals and sell them on etsy. Jay Druba I crochet. Not many people expect that from a college-aged guy, but I've made all kids of things-- hats
If you're down in Indy's south side around noon on a sunshiny day, you might see a small pack of runners jogging down Emerson Avenue. We are, dun dun dun, The One Click Running Club. A non-exclusive, all-inclusive, lunch-running gang. (The good kind.) ;) Meet me, Stacie. I've been a runner since the day I got cut from the 7th-grade volleyball team tryouts and decided to join the cross country team instead, over ten years ago. Since that day, I haven't gone more than three days without running. I even ran for my college cross country and track teams for two years. (Go DePauw Tigers!) ;) I'm not a creature of extreme habit, but for some reason if I don't run often, I feel antsy, irritable, and sloth-like. When I
One Click Ventures is proud to be recognized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce as one of the 2012 Best Places to Work in Indiana. The list identifies, recognizes, and honors 70 companies, benefitting the state’s economy and workforce. To be recognized, businesses from across the state enter the two-part process. The first part consists of an employee survey (worth 75%), while the second part is an evaluation of workplace policies, practices, and demographics (worth 25%). A combined score determines the top companies and the final rankings. With such an emphasis on employee satisfaction, companies that truly put their people first are recognized. “The fact that One Clickers gave such a positive evaluation of our company’s work environment reflects how valued we feel as a team,” says Molly Borter, SEO Specialist. One Click considers its people to be its most valuable asset;
Many of you know by now that the One Click Ventures team works hard, but always finds time to have a little fun. After all, it is at the very core of our culture. Last week, OCV had a seriously stylish soiree to celebrate two brand launches. On Wednesday, February 22, the One Click team spent the afternoon mingling, munching on mini appetizers, and sipping mocktails to celebrate the relaunch of The Fedora Store, as well as the switch from Affordable Scarves to Scarves Dot Net. A true collaborative team effort made both of these redesigns and relaunches possible. Successful launches are definitely something to celebrate! After months
